Book Launch Events & Bank Street Best Books of 2023
Dear friends,
Thanks for signing up to receive author news from me. I will be launching my sophomore book, EIGHTEEN ROSES, into the world this summer and I wanted to invite you to some celebratory events! Ironically, this book is about a girl who doesn’t like attention and does everything to avoid it. Can’t say I don’t relate but I *am* looking forward to speaking with these amazing authors, and I sincerely hope you can join us for one of these conversations and raise a glass with me afterwards in celebration. Please save the dates:
Greenlight Bookstore on 7/30 @ 7:30 pm, in conversation with Jennifer Baker (Brooklyn, NY)
Yu + Me Books on 7/31 @ 5:30 pm, in conversation with Yume Kitasei (New York, NY)
Powell’s Books on 8/8 @ 7:00 pm, in conversation with Parisa Akhbari (Beaverton, OR)
While I have you, if you’re curious as to why authors are always publicizing pre-orders, you might be interested in this helpful explainer: 4 Reasons why it’s important to Preorder Books if you want to help an Author Succeed!
EIGHTEEN ROSES is available for pre-order from Barnes & Noble, Bookshop, Target, and more! If you’re attending one of the above in person events, it would be great if you could pre-order directly from the bookstore. You can also request that your local library purchase a copy.
In other news…
I’m pleased to share that my first book, I’D RATHER BURN THAN BLOOM, has been named to Bank Street's 2024 Best Books of the Year List! This list celebrates acclaimed children's books published in 2023. Each year, committee members review over 6,000 books, and ultimately choose a small percentage of those submissions for inclusion. In choosing books for the annual list, committee members consider literary quality and excellence of presentation, as well as the potential emotional impact of the books on young readers.
That’s all I have for now. I’ve been writing, reading, and doing my best to keep up with life. I hope you are well.
Take good care,
Shannon
